As an extra project to sort of make up for my absences I decided to do something that takes practical application of the photoshop skills I learned in this course. When I graduate, I will be moving to California to work for NASA. As I showed in my video project I worked on a microgravity coring drill and a rock climbing robot. My work at NASA in the future will be to get these technologies more ready for space. To illustrate my future goals, I decided to create an image of a robot that combines the climbing and the drill for use in space. While the actual robot will look nothing like this photoshoped version, this version effectively illustrates the concept. To create the image I used layer masks to cut out the LEMUR robot and the drill, and I super imposed the drill onto one of LEMUR's limbs. Then I found an image of asteroidal rock (the type LEMUR will climb) and super imposed the Drill Robot onto the asteroid and played with the levels so it looked good. I used layer masks to cut out the robot/drill/asteroid combo and put it over a picture of space with earth in the background, again I played with the levels so it looked good. I threw in a launch capsule and some arrows to illustrate the sequence of eventsl. And finally I added some lens flare for good measure. I think it looks pretty good and illustrates my future goals for this robotic technology
